Canyoning in Val Noana

For those who love high-adrenaline activities, we recommend a canyoning experience in Val Noana, a lateral valley to the main Primiero valley.

This activity does not require any specific training or technical expertise: the Alpine Guides can help anyone descend the Noana Torrent safely and discover some truly spectacular places that would otherwise be inaccessible, swimming in pools of crystalline water and sliding down natural rock-toboggans, pushed by the torrent’s current. Dive after dive you get to the grand finale: a breathtaking view on the Noana Lake, a turquoise colored mirror. The final test, a mini via ferrata to get out of the canyon and return to the starting point. To end the adventure, we recommend a delicious snack at the rifugio.

Canyoning is an unmissable experience, practicable safely by everyone, both adults and children (from 8 years old).

VAL NOANA

Excavated by the Noana stream, the valley by the same name is a local wilderness attraction. Because it is long, narrow and flanked by sheer rock cliffs, it looks very much like a canyon. The stream shapes and polishes the large boulders brought down to the valley by the receding glaciers that form spectacular pools. The bottom of the valley is too deep to favour the growth of the grass that is the main feature of the wide valley meadows of Primiero and Vanoi. These 9 kilometres of wild territory at an altitude of 1100 metres a.s.l. reach as far as the Rifugio Fonteghi hut that specializes in meat BBQs. Then, as if by magic, the valley opens out and shows its gentle side with ample green areas, the Nève and Val Piana. A comfortable dirt road leads to the Alpe Vederna mountain, while a high altitude trail ascends to the Boz hut (1718 m a.s.l.), in the Belluno Dolomites Park. In winter, Val Noana becomes a pristine haven for ski-mountaineering and snow-shoe pundits.
