Ancient fruit route

An itinerary suitable for everyone to discover the various types of ancient fruit trees along the Via Nova route that links Pieve (Primiero San Martino di Castrozza) to Passo Gobbera.

A fun treasure hunt surrounded by nature nearby Primiero and the villages of Imèr and Mezzano.

The Ancient Fruit Trail project was born from an intuition of Maurizio Gaio and Slow Food Primiero in partnership with the Comunità di Valle. The route follows for the most part the already existing Via Nova that links Pieve to Passo Gobbera with possibile deviations in Imèr and Mezzano. This area is rich in numerous ancient fruit trees (pear, apple, cherry, etc.). More than 40 of them are listed in this itinerary, all indicated on the map created by Maurizio (see below).

The itinerary was created with the purpose of making hikers aware of the presence of these often “forgotten” trees that represent an important evidence of biodiversity and of the use that was made of these areas in the past.
