Gran Festa del Desmontegar
from 26/09/2024 to 29/09/2024 Resort: Transacqua - Fiera di Primiero - Tonadico - Siror - Mezzano - Imèr - Surrounding of Primiero - Val Canali and Passo Cereda - San Martino di Castrozza
A 4 days festival that celebrate the returning of the animals after the alpine pasture, they spend the summer season in mountains huts at higher altitudes. With the arrival of the cold weather, the herds – dairy bovines, heifers, calves and horses – return to the stables in the villages, to the respective owners. For them the long period (from three to four months) of alpine pasture, is over. For the all season, the animals ate aromatic herbs and wild flowers, which gave to their milk a unique perfume. You can find the same perfume in the typical cheeses of these dolomitic valleys.
It is renovated the collaboration with the Umbrian farms from Norcia and the surrounding area, that will be part of several events.
Thursday 20th September
-Bovine exhibition and contest
The farmers show their best animals, not just cows and calves, but also horses. The event is recommended for children.

-Magic with milk and rennet
A guided visit into the local creamery, to discover the magic behind the making of cheese and other dairy products.

A delicious picnic at the feet of the Pale di San Martino. After an easy walk with a view on the Dolomites, UNESCO World Heritage, a lovely lunch will wait for you in the village.

-Farming atmosphere and traditions: for three days, Fiera di Primiero is filled with farming activities. On Saturday and Sunday, do not miss the possibility to taste typical products meanwhile hearing Tyrolean music.

- Agritur in Piazza/Farmhouse Inns in Piazza: the leading character this year will be the cereals: spelt, oat, barley and buckwheat. Those simple ingredients will be the base for delicious specialties prepared by ours farmhouse inns. Chance to meet the local producers and the Umbrian farms from Norcia and to try their products. During the afternoon, there will be many entertainments for the little ones: stable and farmyard animals, the possibility to attend the milking and to discover the magical world of making cheese with an expert.
Siror, from 3.30 pm to 7.30 pm
Saturday, 22nd September

-En dì al maso - A day in a mountain cabin/chalet
Guided walk through the meadows and mountain cabins of Mezzano, with tasting of delicious typical products and many entertainments.
Cost: € 15.00 per person, free for children up to 6 years old.

Do not miss the opportunity to try all the beers from the local Brewery and HB Traunstein, accompanied by delicious snacks, while listening to live music.
Transacqua, Piazza San Marco, from 7 pm
Sunday, 23rd September
-The “Desmontegada” is the culminating moment of the festival. Bovines, goats, donkeys and horses are decorated and accompany the farmers’ families (dressed with the typical costumes) in a long parade. The procession is the longest in the Alpine area, locals and tourists that assist along the way greet it cheerfully.
It starts in Siror at 10.30 am, then continues in Fiera di Primiero, Transacqua and arrives in Tonadico at 12 pm.
At lunchtime, the opportunity to eat all the typical dishes in the food stands located in Transacqua, Tonadico, Mezzano and Imèr. During the afternoon entertainment for everyone!
