Meeting in the Library: "Border Lives. Stories of "Gypsies" in Tyrol and at the Tyrolean borders, between repression and resistance" with Francesca Brunet, historian and researcher at the Regional History Center of Bressanone.
Between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, as in all of Europe, people identified as "Gypsies" became targets of increasingly intense repressive measures: forced removals, arrests, and forms of social exclusion were the order of the day. A concrete case of violent rejection of a Sinti family that occurred at the Austro-Italian border of Pontet in 1908 will be the starting point from which to closely observe these phenomena and, at the same time, glimpse some resistance strategies implemented by these people.
