In Imèr, Nature takes center stage — literally

STREET: from English, often linked to the renowned “street art.”
BARCH: from the Primiero dialect, a small wooden barn made of planks, a tool shed, a rustic mountain shelter.

These two terms merge into a unique concept — a bridge between past and present, uniting two seemingly distant worlds. The project, a work in progress with already 12 installations and many different themes explored, was born spontaneously in 2016 from the creativity of Nicola Degiampietro and Gianluigi Zeni, supported by the Municipality of Imèr.

Reflecting on the contemporary

RURAL ART

Among these humble structures, the works shift from themes of mystery and inner unrest to reflections on the idea of tradition versus tourism. But it is Nature — with its forms, topics and never-ending relevance — that drives the artistic investigation behind each installation.

Nature is a physical protagonist as well: the dialogue between humans and the environment continues through the rhythm of the seasons and the constant transformation of the landscape.

HOW ARE THE WORKS CREATED?

Each new installation starts with a drawing on paper, transferred onto the barch.

The artworks are created with a very simple technique: the gray, weathered wood is abraded to reveal its original color, forming large, visually striking figures on the structure. In some cases, darker accents are added by lightly burning the wood’s surface or applying black paint. Even the natural change in wood tones over time is part of the “game” — a consequence of seasons and time passing, bringing us once again back to the concept of Nature.
