One of the greatest natural treasures of the Primiero Valley is undoubtedly the abundance of water in all its forms: streams, brooks, valley lakes, and alpine tarns shape and define the landscape. The valley is crossed by four main streams: the Cismon, the Canali stream, the Noana stream, and the Vanoi.
The magic of water in Primiero is best expressed in its mountain lakes, which, like shining mirrors, add even more charm to the landscape. From the Pale di San Martino Plateau, where you can admire the deep cobalt blue of the mysterious Lake Manna, to the vicinity of Passo Rolle with its splendid Colbricón Lakes reflecting the porphyritic peaks of the Lagorai Range. The Vanoi Valley too has its gems: in the Val del Lozen, a visit to Lake Calaita
is a must, and for trekking enthusiasts, a scenic hike leads up to the Lake Pisorno.
In the Val Canali, not far from the villages of Primiero, lies the peaceful Lake Welsperg, next to the historic villa of the Paneveggio–Pale di San Martino Natural Park. One hundred kilometres of streams and one hundred and thirty hectares of lakes make up a magical paradise, a must for nature lovers and passionate anglers alike. In these clear waters, you can find brown and marble trout, brook char, grayling, chub, and minnows.
