An Alpine Pearl in the Dolomites

In 2022, the Municipality of Primiero San Martino di Castrozza joined “Alpine Pearls”, the international network that brings together some of the most beautiful destinations in the Alps, all committed to promoting eco-friendly holidays.

Each location – or Alpine Pearl – places the utmost importance on environmental protection, conscious use of resources, safeguarding local identity and culture, and offers visitors meaningful experiences alongside soft, eco-friendly mobility solutions in harmony with nature.

Within this area – protected by the Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Nature Park – environmental care comes first, and the ways to enjoy the Dolomites without stress and in full harmony with nature are virtually endless. On foot, by bike, via hydroelectric-powered lifts, on horseback or even paragliding: choose the adventure that suits you!

To avoid the stress of traffic and parking, you can request a Guest Card, the tourist pass that lets you reach your destination and then travel freely using local public transport.

If you’re travelling by electric car, you can recharge it at one of 25 public charging stations across the region or at hotels and restaurants offering charging facilities to guests. Even on an e-bike, staying powered up isn’t a problem thanks to 30 charging points located along the main walking and cycling paths. Charging your e-bike is simple and free – another incentive to leave the car at home and explore the Dolomite landscapes on two wheels.

FUN FACT:

All the energy supplied in this corner of Trentino is zero-kilometre, produced by 13 local hydroelectric plants that generate ten times more clean energy than the 9,500 residents need. This unique setup, combined with two biomass plants, has allowed the Primiero and Vanoi Valleys to stand out nationally and internationally, earning them the “100% Renewable Territories” award from Legambiente.
