1945-1948: the years of the autonomist claim
The exhibition, promoted by the Provincial Council for the promotion of knowledge of Autonomy and curated by the Fondazione Museo storico del Trentino, tells the story of the return to democratic life in the post-war period.
Starting in May 1945, in a Trentino marked by the destruction of war, poverty and the deep wounds left by the totalitarian regime and the German occupation, a new and intense season of political participation took shape. Parties and movements, supported by strong popular involvement, are mobilising to claim a new institutional set-up within a finally free and democratic Italy.
The theme of autonomy crosses all political forces and is embodied in numerous proposals, studies and draft statutes. Among the protagonists of this debate are the Centro Studi per l 'Autonomia Regionale of the Committee of National Liberation of Trento and ASAR – Associazione Studi Autonomistici Regionali, promoter of the idea of "integral autonomy".
Through photographs, documents, newspaper articles and posters, the exhibition reconstructs the years of the autonomous claim until the granting of the Statute of Autonomy of the Trentino-Alto Adige Region in 1948, a founding moment in the autonomous history of the territory.
Visitable in the openings of Palazzo Scopoli in February, from 3.30 pm to 6.30 pm
