A spectacular mountain range that culminates in a pyramid shape with Mount Pavione, included in the Vette Feltrine Nature Reserve and protected by the Belluno Dolomites National Park.
The Vette Feltrine mountain range marks the natural border between Trentino and Veneto, and between the provinces of Trento and Belluno. The highest peak is the Pavione pyramid (2,335 m), while the lowest is the Vallazza (2,167 m). On the Veneto side, the Pavione becomes a high-altitude grazing area, known as Busa delle Vette. The peaks, like the Pale di San Martino, are also protected by a park, the National Park of the Belluno Dolomites, established in 1993, and included in the Vette Feltrine Nature Reserve. The latter also constitute the junction of the terminal part of Alta Via no. 2 delle Leggende, which connects Feltre to Bressanone, important episcopal sees in past centuries.
