In the central part of the pink mountains of the Dolomites you can admire the famous Pale di San Martino: the largest mountain group in the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The largest mountain range in the Dolomites, which extends for 240 sq. km from the province of Belluno to Trentino, is also one of the most evocative, dotted with spires, peaks and corners that turn pink at sunset: the Pale di San Martino are mountains of coral origin born about 300 million years ago, when, in a shallow sea, gigantic colonies of corals multiplied until they built reefs more than 1,000 meters high, shaped over time by atmospheric agents to the sharp definition that we can all admire today. The most romantic spirits (including the writer Dino Buzzati) have always been fascinated by the plateau, suspended over 2,000 metres above sea level, with its 50 km ² of bare rock and deep crevices, whose end cannot be seen.

The spectacular view. The highest peaks also exceed three thousand meters in height.
