This excursion touches two of the most iconic places of the Pale di San Martino, the Ferrata Bolver-Lugli (also known as Ferrata del Cimóne) and Cima Vezzana.

The summit of Vezzana, which can also be reached via two other accesses, Val dei Cantoni and Val de Strutt passing through Bivacco Brunner, can be quite crowded during summer weekends. In contrast, the access proposed in this excursion, which climbs via the via ferrata, normally is not as it requires a medium-high level of experience. The ferrata develops on the south-west side of Cimòn della Pala (or simply Cimòne), also known as the Matterhorn of the Dolomites, because its shape, when viewed from Passo Rolle, resembles the more famous summit of the western Alps. During the first half of the hike, the scenery is simply incredible, with a 360-degree panorama that overlooks the Val di Primiero on the southern side and – from west to east – the dolomite groups of Passo Rolle, Val di Fiemme, Val di Fassa, Latemar, Catinaccio Marmolada, Civetta, and Vette Feltrine. The summit of Vezzana is a beautiful balcony overlooking a 1,000 m drop onto Passo Rolle and Val Venegia, where today remains the Travignòlo glacier. The return route to Rifugio Pedrotti, however, is rather boring compared to the first part of the hike and certainly does not offer the same view.
