Four days to celebrate the end of the alpine grazing season among the beautiful pastures at the foot of the Pale di San Martino, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the barns in the valley.

Every year, with the first cold weather, the herds of dairy cows, heifers, calves, and horses return to the village to the barns of their respective farmers. For them, the long grazing period spent in the high mountain pastures, among lush grasses and mountain flowers that give their milk and cheese the classic golden-yellow color and unmistakable aroma and scent, is over.

A rich calendar of exclusive moments dedicated to the white gold of the Dolomites is planned, including farm experiences, the knowledge and flavors of En di al Maso, the traditional cattle show, and the usual gastronomic exhibition. Also planned is Dì del Formai, a new immersive experience entirely dedicated to the dairy supply chain of Primiero, set in the beautiful backdrop of Palazzo Scopoli, which will host an intriguing tasting of cheeses a la carte and Trentino wines, an evening tasting moment with themed recipes, workshops for children, and an original sensory experience that combines flavors, aromas, and sounds. All of this is seasoned with moments of music and folklore in the various villages: from the traditional Beer Festival in Transacqua to a moment dedicated to pumpkin and autumn flavors in Imer, while Fiera di Primiero welcomes you with music and peasant atmospheres, in anticipation of the longest and most participated parade in the entire Alpine arc.

Sunday's “Desmontegada” is, in fact, the climax of this event dedicated to tradition, breeding, and dairy products of Primiero.  The event, which over the years has been enriched with activities and participants, reaches its 26th edition this year, always with the careful organization of the Tonadighi Strighi Association of Tonadico and the Tradition and Culture Committee of Siror, supporting the work and passion of the Primiero and Vanoi Breeders Union, along with the contribution of many other associations, entities, and businesses in the area, as well as the enthusiasm of the entire local community.

    The 26th Desmontegada

    The descent of the livestock
from the summer pastures was once a sort of collective ritual. This pride of farming is still celebrated today with a grand parade, the longest in the entire Alpine arc. On the concluding day of the Gran Festa del Desmontegar, decorated dairy cows, goats, and horses parade through the historic centers of Primiero, accompanied by families of farmers in traditional attire, folklore groups, and musical bands. The procession, which starts from Siror, passes through Fiera di Primiero and Transacqua, reaching Tonadico under the watchful eyes of thousands of curious spectators, where the celebration continues with music and dancing.
    Siror, Molin District, 10:00 AM
