Four days to celebrate the end of the alpine grazing among the beautiful pastures at the foot of the Pale di San Martino, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the stables in the valley.
Every year, with the first cold, herds of dairy cows, heifers, calves, and horses return to the village to the stables of their respective breeders. Their long period of grazing spent in the high-altitude huts among lush pastures filled with herbs and mountain flowers, which give their milk and cheese the classic golden yellow color and an unmistakable scent and aroma, has come to an end.
A rich calendar of exclusive moments dedicated to the white gold of the Dolomites is scheduled, including farm experiences, the knowledge and flavors of En di al Maso, the traditional cattle show , and the usual gastronomic exhibition. There will also be Dì del Formai, a new immersive experience entirely dedicated to the cheese supply chain of Primiero, set against the beautiful backdrop of Palazzo Scopoli, which will host an interesting tasting of à la carte cheeses and wines from Trentino, an evening tasting moment with themed recipes, workshops for children, and an original sensory experience that combines flavors, scents, and sounds. All of this will be enhanced by moments of music and folklore in the different villages: from the traditional Beer Festival in Transacqua to a moment dedicated to pumpkins and autumn flavors in Imer, while Fiera di Primiero will welcome you with music and rustic atmospheres, in anticipation of the longest and most participated parade in the entire Alpine arc.
Sunday of the “Desmontegada” is, in fact, the culminating moment of this event dedicated to tradition, breeding, and dairy products of Primiero. The event, which has enriched over the years with activities and participants, reaches its 26th edition this year, always with the careful organization of the Associazione Tonadighi Strighi of Tonadico and the Committee for Tradition and Culture of Siror, supporting the work and passion of the Unione Allevatori Primiero e Vanoi and with the contribution of many other associations, entities, and businesses in the area, alongside the enthusiasm of the entire local community.

The 26th Desmontegada
The descent of livestock from the summer pastures was once a sort of collective ritual. This strong and rooted peasant pride is still celebrated today with a grand parade, the longest in the entire Alpine arc. On the concluding day of the Gran Festa del Desmontegar, dairy cows, goats, and horses adorned for the occasion parade through the historic centers of Primiero accompanied by families of breeders in traditional costumes, folkloric groups, and marching bands. The parade, which departs from Siror, passing through Fiera di Primiero and Transacqua, reaches Tonadico under the eyes of thousands of curious onlookers, where the celebration continues with music and dancing.
