Stefano Nazzi presents “Predators. The Serial Killers Who Marked America” (Mondadori)
A journey into the minds of the most ruthless American predators and those who tried to stop them.
There were years in America when evil seemed to lurk everywhere. In dark parking lots, by the sides of streets, in the most unsuspecting homes. The FBI called it “the epidemic,” the golden age of serial killers, who numbered almost two thousand between the 1960s and the 1990s. They killed quietly, methodically, with creativity, and often, with a reassuring face. “We are your children, we are your husbands, we are everywhere,” said Ted Bundy, one of the most famous. And he was right. With his intense and gripping prose, Stefano Nazzi retraces those dark decades, taking us into the minds of some of the most terrifying American serial killers. Alongside them are the stories of the women and men who chased, studied, and categorized them. Nazzi tells how profiling was born, the idea that behind the apparent chaos there was a method, and thus it was possible to predict unpredictable actions and the first mindhunters, the mind hunters.
