A malga and a barn that look like they've come straight out of a fairy tale, but it’s all true. Lucia and Stefano, a mother and son with their lovely family, await you for a truly special good morning, offering you the chance to experience the rhythms of the malga firsthand.
You start with grazing, alongside Giovanni, to bring the cows into the barn and follow the milking. In the meantime, you will try out some daily activities with Lucia, such as making butter or going to gather eggs, as well as feeding the little rabbits.
As a reward for your efforts, a truly wow breakfast to enjoy inside near the arin (hearth) or, on warmer mornings, even outside.
Your day dedicated to good practices continues with a nice walk to the ruins of malga Pradidali with the possibility of bringing along a truly special picnic.
What you will do
- At 6.00 a.m., together with Giovanni and his boys, you will go to fetch the animals in the pasture to then lead them into the barn. But be careful where you put your feet!
- All in the barn for a demonstration and practice, for those who wish, of milking. Not only cows but many cute animals enliven the small but well-kept barn.
- Activities in the malga: for today you will be Lucia's right-hand person…there's always something to do in the malga, such as making good butter with fresh cream or feeding the little rabbits!
- Breakfast: the morning has gold in its mouth, it's really the case to say it! Homemade cakes, but also local cheeses and cured meats, alongside a good coffee and freshly milked milk*. A specialty of the malga, smorum, a sweet omelet to enjoy with jam that will reward you for waking up early.
Meeting at the malga at 6.00 a.m. end of the activity at 8.30 a.m.
How to continue the day: it would really be a shame to go back to bed right away! There are several excursions that start from Malga Canali, each more beautiful than the last.
We recommend:
- to reach the ruins of Malga Pradidali (about 45 minutes) via the appropriate trail. This is the ideal place to enjoy our Cheesenic, which you can request at the malga and take with you for an open-air lunch directly on the pastures.
- Alternatively, you can head towards Rifugio Treviso (about 45-50 minutes) via an easy trail that starts from the parking area just below the malga.
