A mountain hut and a barn that seem to have come out of a fairy tale, but it’s all true. Lucia and Stefano, mother and son with their lovely family, are waiting for you for a truly special good morning, offering you the chance to experience the rhythms of the mountain hut firsthand.
It starts in the pasture, together with Giovanni, to bring the cows into the barn and follow the milking. Meanwhile, with Lucia, you will try your hand at some daily activities, such as making butter or going to collect eggs, or feeding the little rabbits.
As a reward for your efforts, a truly wow breakfast to savor inside near the arin (hearth) or, on warmer mornings, even outside.
Your day focused on good practices continues with a nice walk to the ruins of malga Pradidali with the option to bring a truly special picnic with you.
What you will do
- At 6.00 a.m., together with Giovanni and his boys, you will go to fetch the animals from the pasture and then lead them into the barn. Be careful, though, where you step!
- Everyone in the barn for a demonstration and trial, for those who wish, of milking. Not only cows but many cute animals animate the small but well-kept barn.
- Activities in the mountain hut: for today, you will be Lucia’s right-hand person…there’s always something to do in the mountain hut, for example, making good butter with fresh cream or feeding the little rabbits!
- Breakfast: the morning has gold in its mouth, it’s just the right thing to say! Homemade cakes, but also local cheeses and cold cuts, together with good coffee and freshly milked milk*. A specialty of the mountain hut, smorum, a sweet omelet to enjoy with jam that will make the early wake-up worth it.
Meeting at the mountain hut at 6.00 a.m. activity ends at 8.30 a.m.
How to continue the day: it would really be a shame to go straight back to bed! From Malga Canali several excursions start, each one more beautiful than the last.
We recommend:
- to reach the ruins of Malga Pradidali (about 45 minutes) via the designated path. This is the ideal place to enjoy our Cheesenic, which you can request at the mountain hut and take with you for an open-air lunch directly on the pastures.
- Alternatively, you can head towards Rifugio Treviso (about 45-50 minutes) also using an easy path that starts from the parking lot just below the mountain hut.
