Thanks to the “Accessible Park” project, which identified barrier-free trails and provided the use of the Joelette, the Paneveggio Pale di San Martino Nature Park received the 2019 Ecotourism Award — given annually by Federparchi and Legambiente for the best sustainable and responsible tourism experiences in Italy.
Nature is a universal treasure, and it is important that everyone can access it. This is especially true for protected areas, which is why the Paneveggio Pale di San Martino Nature Park has focused on visitors with reduced mobility, making the Joelette available upon request.
What is the Joelette? It is an off-road, single-wheel wheelchair that, with the support of two assistants, allows people with disabilities to participate in mountain trail excursions and environmental education outings.
