This building dates back to the 13th century and first appears in documents in 1393. The sacred structure was dedicated to Saints Philip and James and in the sixteenth century it was expanded and equipped with first-rate pictorial decorations. Nowadays, only the apse where part of the frescoes of the old church are still visible, and only a few seats of the perimeter walls of the hall remain. The interior fresco dates back to 1527 and depicts a Christ in glory with the symbols of the four evangelists on the sides.

In the lower register is a sequence of children called Holy Innocents (killed during the massacre of Herod). The holy arch bears traces of the Annunciation, God the Father and numerous prophets and saints, including St Victor and St Crown.
At the center are the names of the administrators of the church, who commissioned the fresco in 1527, while on the entire surface of the plaster you can see numerous devotional writings left by the faithful and bystanders.
The church of San Giacomo is located in the countryside of Tonadico, now a municipality of Primiero San Martino di Castrozza. The countryside is a grassland area that connects the villages of Tonadico and Siror. It is believed that the church was placed in that place with a devotional purpose also to protect the fields of wheat, cereals and legumes once indispensable for sustenance.
