Established in 1970 by the Municipality of Fiera di Primiero, it became a supra-communal body in 1978 with the establishment of the Intercommunal Library Consortium of Primiero in which, in addition to the Municipality of Fiera di Primiero, the Municipalities of Imer, Mezzano, Siror, Tonadico (later Union Alto Primiero with the Municipality of Sagron Mis) and Transacqua participate.
The Municipality of Primiero San Martino di Castrozza, established in 2016 and born from the merger of the municipalities of Fiera di Primiero Siror Tonadico and Transacqua, manages the intercommunal Library Service of Primiero as leader according to the agreement with the Municipalities of Imer and Mezzano of 31 May 2016.
