Climb the "Pale" to enjoy a beautiful view of San Martino di Castrozza and the northern part of the Lagorai mountain range
The Velo della Madonna Refuge is nestled at the foot of Cima della Madonna, one of the most famous peaks of the Pale di San Martino Dolomite group. The structure enjoys a wide view over the Cismon Valley and Primiero. The refuge is one of the "youngest" in Trentino; it was inaugurated on September 21, 1980. It is the arrival point and base for many hiking and mountaineering routes. The refuge can be reached from San Martino di Castrozza by a beautiful hike on a well-marked and maintained trail. Some short passages are exposed and maximum caution is recommended in those specific sections.
