Easy snowshoeing in one of the most beautiful Dolomite valleys of all Trentino facing the Pale di San Martino
The excursion starts from the Pian dei Casoni parking lot, reachable by climbing the provincial road 81 that from the SS50 in Paneveggio leads to Passo Valles. The entire route runs along a forest road, groomed in winter from Pian dei Casoni up to Malga Venegia, open with catering from mid-December to early March. The route is never demanding, with a light but steady uphill snowshoeing that takes about half an hour to reach Malga Venegia and another 30 minutes approximately to get to Malga Venegiota, which is only open in summer. The section from Malga Venegia to Malga Venegiota is not groomed by the snowcat, but is still easily passable thanks to the width and little elevation difference of the road. The panorama, especially in the section from Malga Venegia to Malga Venegiota, is splendid, with the northern side of the Pale di San Martino standing out in the background.
