Primiero Slow Tour 3rd leg (Rifugio Caltena - Rifugio Fonteghi)

Follow Trail 728A through the forest and then uphill, until you reach the mount’s crest. Continue south-west for about 1 Km. This part of the trail is particularly beautiful and offers a panoramic view on the Vette Feltrine. Along the path you’ll find a series of displays with information about the area and wooden sitting banks. In its last segment the trail goes downhill to a forest road in Falasorni.

Turn left and continue, until you reach San Giovanni, an area that is particularly appreciated by all those who live in Mezzano. There you’ll see a very nice little church, from which you can enjoy a panoramic view on the Vette Feltrine.

Follow Trail Nr. 726 to Poit, until you reach Prati di Iner, then continue downhill through the forest until you get to Val de Riva. At the end of the slope you should see a 30 Mt. high and 70 Mt. long suspension bridge on the Rio Giasinozza. The bridge was built in 2018.

Cross the suspension bridge and continue uphill for another 20 minutes, until you reach the end of this leg, aka Rifugio Fonteghi.

On this trek you’ll get a very beautiful glimpse on the Primiero Valley. In particular, the following spots are worth an extra stop:

The panoramic view in Cordogné on Monte Pavione;

Prati di san Giovanni and the little namesake church;

The suspension bridge on Rio Giasinozza.
