Palaronda Trek North - Stage 3 (Rosetta Mountain Hut - Velo della Madonna Mountain Hut)

The third stage of the Palaronda Trek Nord, which runs from the Rosetta Mountain Hut to the Velo della Madonna Mountain Hut via trails 702 and 713After admiring the sunrise over the Pale Plateau, you set off again from the Rosetta Mountain Hut, following Trail 702, which descends toward San Martino di Castrozza along the Val di Roda. The descent, which is very gentle thanks to several switchbacks carved into the rock, turns into a trail through the woods that winds down into the valley, offering spectacular views of the central massif of the Pale di San Martino and the Campanili peaks of the Val di Roda. Just before reaching Prati Col, take Trail 721, which leads to the Velo della Madonna Mountain Hut in about three hours of walking. In the final section of the trail, once you’ve passed the 1,900-meter elevation mark, you’ll encounter a section equipped with a metal cable, which is necessary to cross a rocky ridge that is often damp. A via ferrata kit is not required, but it is recommended that you tackle this section with caution, using the metal cable.Third stage of the Palaronda Trek Nord. The first part of the route is all downhill along the scenic Trail 702 in the Val di Roda. Near the hamlet of Col, you’ll come to a forest road that leads to the start of Trail 721, which gradually climbs up to the Velo della Madonna Mountain Hut. In the final section of the route, you’ll tackle a short, equipped section to cross a rocky ridge that is often damp or wet.
