The Palaronda itinerary, designed for those who want to explore the north face of the Pale di San Martino
The Palaronda Trek North begins at Passo Rolle, ascending the dirt road that leads from the pass to Baita Segantini. From there, the route descends into Val Venegia towards Malga Venegiota and continues along trail 749. At the first fork, keep right, following signs for Passo Venegiota (also known as Forcella Venegiota). From this point, follow trail 751 (part of the Alta Via n. 2 route) as it circles the Monte Mulaz massif, leading to the destination of the first stage: Rifugio Mulaz. Note: If you reach Baita Segantini after 11:00 AM, it is recommended to avoid trails 749 and 751 and instead continue along the more direct trail 710. From Rifugio Mulaz, head towards Passo Mulaz, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the northern range of the Pale di San Martino. Descend along the Quinto Scalet trail (710) towards Val Venegia, then climb back up towards Baita Segantini before descending the dirt road to Capanna Cervino. From there, take the path connecting directly to the Sentiero dei Finanzieri (712); this trail passes Crode Rosse and Palamonda, intersects with trail 701, and ascends to the Pale di San Martino Plateau, eventually reaching Rifugio Rosetta. Note: Those who wish to do so can reach Rifugio Colverde from trail 712 and ascend to the Pale di San Martino Plateau from there using the Rosetta cable car. After watching the sunrise over the Pale Plateau, depart from Rifugio Rosetta along trail 702, which descends towards San Martino di Castrozza through Val di Roda. The descent—very gentle thanks to several switchbacks carved into the rock—transitions into a woodland path leading down into the valley, offering spectacular views of the central Pale di San Martino massif and the spires of Val di Roda. Just before reaching Prati Col, take trail 721; a hike of approximately three hours leads to the Velo della Madonna Refuge. From the Velo della Madonna Refuge, descend along trail 713 towards Prati Col. Upon reaching the Soraronz area, continue along trail 724 until you arrive in San Martino di Castrozza.
One of the most scenic multi-day hikes in the Dolomites.

However, this route also features stages of medium-to-high length and difficulty, suitable for those who are already familiar with hikes of this type.
