Malga Canali - Rifugio Treviso - Vani Alti - Bivacco Reali - Ferrata Fiamme Gialle

This hike develops in one of the lesser-known parts of the Pale di San Martino, on the Subgroup of the Croda Granda, north east of Rifugio Treviso.Traditionally this loop is proposed in the opposite direction in order to travel the Ferrata Fiamme Gialle uphill. The passage of the Vani Alti however is a climb that from a hiking point of view is to be considered technical and dangerous (if you have a rope and you do not feel safe there are some rings with which to protect yourselves), for this we propose to face it going up and recommend doing this loop counter-clockwise. From Rifugio Treviso, once you leave the main path No. 707 on a track toward Vani Alti, the initial part of the ascent is relatively simple even if it is quite gravelly. From the base of the wall an easy climb begins that lasts about half an hour along what was an old Via Ferrata subsequently removed because it was too dangerous (ed. not so much for the difficulty, but it is a fact that oftentimes the presence of a via ferrata invites inexperienced hikers to follow it). After the ascent and a break to enjoy the panorama with Cima St. Anna (2,374 m a.s.l.), Croda Granda (2,839 m a.s.l.), and Sass d'Ortiga (2,391 m a.s.l.) in the foreground, the path continues on the eastern side of Cime Vani Alti (2,633 m a.s.l.) and, after having climbed over a pass, descends toward Bivacco Renato Reali. From Bivacco Renato Reali, on the way back to Malga Canali, you must therefore face the Ferrata Fiamme Gialle downhill, not particularly difficult but rather vertical, in excellent conditions.Overall the route is not particularly frequented, recommended only and exclusively to expert hikers.
