Crossing the Pale Plateau and descent towards Gares

A Little-used route but of high aesthetic value thanks to the incredible views over the northern range of the Pale di San Martino.The route crosses the Pale Plateau, reaching Gares (Canale d'Agordo); exposure to the north and relative protection from winds allow for optimum snow conditions to be maintained.Alternatively, you can ascend the High Banks up to the last hill overlooking Valbona and descend the steeper slopes near Sasso Negro - good navigation skills and good knowledge of the snow conditions are required.
