Review "At the Limit": Liquid Boundaries. The management of water between mountains and plains.
Water is by nature an element that ignores barriers, flowing freely from high altitudes to the valleys. Yet, today more than ever, it forces us to confront physical and ecological limits that can no longer be crossed.
In this meeting, we will explore the complex management of water resources and the deep interdependence between mountains and plains through two complementary perspectives. Roberto Mazza will guide us through the invisible underground world of aquifers, while Giustino Mezzalira will speak about the necessity of “cultivating water”: we will understand how forests act as immense natural sponges capable of retaining rainfall.
A dialogue to understand how to protect our “water safes” at high altitudes, essential for ensuring life, agriculture, and the balance of the areas below.
Participants:
- Roberto Mazza, Associate Professor, Department of Sciences, Roma Tre University
- Giustino Mezzalira, Forestry Doctor and Environmental Communicator
Free and open participation.
