Place to share emotions and talk about death.
A space where death and dying are discussed in order to live life consciously, appreciating every moment and every experience. The Death Café is a welcoming, non-judgmental, respectful, and confidential physical space where, over a beverage such as tea or coffee accompanied by a pastry or a slice of cake, participants freely talk about death without aiming to reach a conclusion, but with the objective of internalizing the presence of death, accepting that it is part of life, in fact, it is the only certainty in life.
The Death Café is not a therapeutic support group for grief, but a place where a facilitator encourages the flow of open and non-judgmental communication among all participants who wish to share ideas, emotions, thoughts, and doubts.
The Death Café requires participants to adhere to rules designed solely to make every participant feel safe and welcomed. The rules are:
- Absence of judgment, all opinions are valid and deserve respect
- Confidentiality, what is said stays within the group
- Voluntariness, no participant is obliged to intervene if they do not wish to
- It is not a place for therapy, but for open conversation. Therefore, participation is not recommended for people who have experienced a recent loss.
Facilitator of the meetings: Stefania Venturini.
