Although she believes in her work and in the "mission" of Facebook, computer engineer Frances Haugen remains incredulous in the face of evidence of Facebook's effects on human behavior. It seems that the connection between the algorithm and the tendency towards radicalization is recurring and far from random: Frances decides to share her suspicions with Jeff Horwitz, a journalist from the Wall Street Journal seeking information to assemble an article exposing the dangers of social networks. Amid hesitations and complications, the investigation by the two will uncover shocking truths.
