CARTANATURA 2026: Forests and Natural Landscapes with Francisco Castro (accompanied by Silvia De Bastiani)
Outdoor workshop with accommodation in Val Canali.
In this course we will particularly explore the theme of the forest and the natural landscape that will serve as the backdrop for Val Canali, in the Trentino Dolomites. We will focus on the simplification and synthesis of the landscape, studying direct solutions useful for working from life. We will use the watercolor technique both wet and dry, trying to capture the essence of the natural environment. Simplifying to preserve the essence and atmosphere of the landscape will be the main objective of this course. Two exercises will be held each day, preceded by a demonstration by the instructor, who will introduce the guidelines to follow. Participants will then receive individual guidance on their personal work.
Level: Intermediate - Advanced. The course is aimed at those who already have experience in watercolor.
Location: Val Canali, Primiero San Martino di Castrozza, Trentino Dolomites, 1,100m.
Accommodation: Hotel Cant del Gal and Baita La Ritonda in Val Canali; choice between double room, twin, single use double room with full board (drinks included during the 2 convivial dinners). Lunch can be in the Hotel or in a picnic basket.
Language: the course will be conducted in Spanish, with the help of Silvia De Bastiani.

Important notes: the course will be confirmed upon reaching a minimum number of 10 participants while a maximum of 15 students will be allowed. For those coming from far away who need early or late nights, it is possible to add them by notifying in advance (see additional cost). It is also possible to request the fee for an accompanying person not attending the course; based on availability, we will provide the relative fee.
Lunch can also be in a picnic basket for educational purposes, always at the accommodation hotel. Dinners on the evenings of the 28th and 29th will be offered for all participants at the same location, alternately at one of the two hotels and include drinks. The 3-day course has an indicative schedule of 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Classes take place outdoors (weather conditions permitting) and short walks in the forests and meadows of Val Canali are also planned. In case of bad weather, the hotels will provide indoor spaces to continue with course activities.
Necessary equipment and painting materials will be communicated later. However, appropriate clothing for a mountain environment and suitable footwear for unpaved roads or wet meadows/forests is recommended.

For those who wish to immerse themselves even more in relaxation, Camping Castelpietra in Val Canali offers a new wellness area called Wood Wellness, which includes a Finnish sauna immersed in the forest with large windows to admire nature. Additionally, a relaxation area with the possibility of enjoying excellent herbal teas, available by reservation and for a fee (€ 8.00 per person/2h), for an exclusive experience. Ideal for those seeking relaxation and contact with nature in the Dolomites of Trentino.
Booking and payment conditions:
- For booking, we require the following details: name, surname, date and place of birth, residential address, and tax code
- 25% deposit of the total stay to confirm the group
- Balance of the stay 20 days before arrival
- Invoicing under regime 74-Ter
Cancellation policies:
- In the event of cancellation of confirmed bookings, the following penalties will apply:
Up to 30 days before arrival: 10%
from 29 to 21 days before arrival: 25%
from 20 to 7 days before arrival: 50%
Less than 7 days before arrival and in case of no-show: 100%
