Regade da Cereda

Regàde da Cereda: Passo Cereda - Forcella d'Oltro - Malga Cavallera - Domadóri

This loop route develops entirely in the wild and little-trodden environment of the sunny south-eastern slopes of the eastern chain of the Pale di San Martino (stretching from Monte Feltraio to Monte Agnèr). The itinerary, which at two successive points slightly exceeds 2,000 meters in altitude, is characterized by the special atmosphere that this corner of the Pale offers, with wide views of desolate grassy slopes and Dolomite spires.

Starting from Passo Cereda (1,369 m asl), the route climbs along the asphalted road (Trail No. 718) between the Colonia Feltrina and the Rifugio Passo Cereda and heads north crossing the meadows near the Maso Brunet, in the shadow of the small hill called Col Molinai. After passing the hill and always following the indications of Trail No. 718 “Equipped Path of the Regàde”, the route leaves the road turning left into the woods. The ascent along Trail No. 718, characterized by many switchbacks and evocative passages, reaches the fork located below Passo Regàde (2,046 m asl).

Still following Trail No. 718, at the crossroads the route continues right towards northeast, along the Dolomite High Route No. 2. This section of the itinerary progressively rises on the steep slopes of the mountain chain, passing in succession close to the Feltraio peak (2,295 m asl), Le Rocchette (2,309 m asl) and d’Oltro (2,396 m asl), finally reaching the mouth of the channel that climbs to Forcella d’Oltro (2,094 m asl).

Before continuing towards Malga Cavallera, with a short detour of about 10 minutes it is possible to reach the pass from which you enjoy a magnificent view of Val Canali and the south-eastern Pale di San Martino where the mighty Cima Canali towers. From the crossroads below Forcella d’Oltro, at 1,960 m asl, the route continues along traces, not very visible, marked by a sign on the rock face and some markings on stones heading northeast towards Malga Cavallera.

The path that leads to the hut crosses an area of great beauty, outside the “classic” paths, and is classified as a nature reserve. The trail alternates sections where it is very evident with others where it is barely visible: it is therefore important to look up to identify the white and red marks that identify it. After crossing a couple of small valleys and a short exposed stretch on the rocks, the trail reaches the grassy slope overlooking the hut. From here the path becomes visible again and, proceeding for a final downhill stretch through pastures, arrives at Malga Cavallera, situated at 1,679 meters altitude in the Municipality of Gosaldo (BL).

From Malga Cavallera the route continues descending along Trail No. 720, first crossing the pastures below the hut, then a wooded stretch until reaching the localities of Prà di Forca and Domadóre. Once at Domadóre, follow the signs for Mis / Passo Cereda, then turn right at Fontane Negre and again right just after passing Costa del Zóc, where you reach a forest road that climbs towards Santa Rita. The forest road rises for about a hundred meters in altitude, where it becomes a path that crosses some hollows until reaching Santa Rita locality. From here the track rejoins the cart road of Col Molinai, the route at the start of the itinerary, which leads back to Passo Cereda.
