After a hearty breakfast, set off on a tour that starts in the
Tognola area and stretches to
Ces. Taking the Tognola cable car up to 2200 meters at Rifugio Tognola, there are plenty of options for skiers: from the easier blue runs of Rododendro, Conca, and Scandola, to the longer, more panoramic Tognola Uno and Tognola Tre runs, which go all the way down to 1400 meters in San Martino di Castrozza.
After a tasty break at the shelter or nearby Malghetta Tognola, the tour continues by taking the Cigolera chairlift up to 2380 meters at Cima Tognola, the highest point of the entire ski area. From here, you can choose to enjoy more runs on the Tognola side or descend towards Ces, skiing down the beautiful Cristiania run, which, thanks to its optimal north-facing exposure, ensures excellent snow quality at any time of day and throughout the entire season.
From Val Cigolera, at the foot of the Cristiania slope, the welcoming Malga Valcigolera invites you for a tasty break with sandwiches or traditional Trentino dishes. You then climb again, gaining elevation up to 2,227 meters to reach Punta Ces, where one of the most breathtaking views of the Carousel awaits: the panorama stretches from the Pale di San Martino range to the Lagorai, descending towards the Vette Feltrine and the gentle Primiero valley.
Between red and black runs, there are plenty of refreshment spots: a stop at Malga Ces is a must. Around lunchtime, it will be a true pleasure to enjoy a delicious snack or, for the more indulgent, a sumptuous meal, taking advantage of the convenient 10-seater Colbricon Express gondola.
The carousel continues towards the Tognola lifts, but not before tackling the unmissable descent on the Record slope, one of the most technical red runs in the ski area, accessible with
the brand-new Valcigolera gondola, operational from winter 2024-25. As sunset approaches, head back up to Alpe Tognola to savor a delicious cheese tasting paired with other local products and Trentino wines. The Angolino Rustico at Rifugio Tognola offers a truly special aperitif, a romantic toast on the terrace as the Pale di San Martino turn pink before you tackle the final run back down to the valley.
After taking off your skis, the day of exploring the Carousel of the Mountain Huts isn’t over until you've stopped at the Après Ski Campo Base Tognola: music and fun to cap off a perfect day on the slopes or to keep the party going! Après Ski Campo Base Tognola stays open late into the evening.
The leitmotif of skiing in San Martino di Castrozza is skiing with flavor, enjoying a unique landscape. In a single phrase: the Carousel of the Mountain Huts—45 kilometers of slopes and delicious delights.
