International Snow & Ice Sculpture Contest

In January 2010 San Martino di Castrozza presents the 7.edition of the International Snow & Ice Sculpture Contest, an event full of mystery and magic in a world of snow and ice.
On the squares and streets of San Martino, from January 24. to January 31. It’s possible to see some of the most important snow carvers while performing new masterpieces.

The Snow & Ice Sculptures are crafted from crystal-clear ice and 400 tons of pure snow that will be transformed into gigantic works of frosty art. The combination of architectural lighting and sparkling ice creates a magical and fairylike showpiece, which is guaranteed to make you shiver: not only with the cold, but also from wonder and admiration.

International and professional ice sculptors, divided into different teams, have to complete their titanic works in the 4 days leading up to the opening. These ice artists, who come from different countries (such as China, Canada, USA, Sweden, Holland and Belgium) have many years of experience and regularly participate in competitions such as the International Snow & Ice Sculpture Contest.
