Orienteering World Schools’ Championship ISF 2011

After 13 editions, the Orienteering World Schools Championship reach Primiero, to honour one of the most important sites of this sport in Italy.
In May the spotlights of orienteering fans will point towards the Cismon valleys, to follow the performances of the young students from all over the world, ready to clinch the podium for their nations.
The fourteenth Orienteering World Schools Championship will be in Italy for the second time after Lurisia (Cuneo) in 1997. In the past it was held in different corners of Europe and not only, passing from Sweden, Jonkoping-Huskvarna, venue to the first edition in 1987, to the Scottish capital Edinburgh (2008) passing from Belgium, Finland, Israel (Ashold in 2000), until the last event held in Minorca in 2009.
And now it’s Primiero’s turn, host venue of Italia 2011: the hundreds of students who will reach Trentino will be able to see the beauties of the woods of these areas where some of the greatest Italian orienteering athletes were born as well as other important sport champions among which are Antonio Longo, the great orienteering athlete Michele Tavernaro, Gianluigi Zanetel and Massimo Debertolis.
A breeding ground of authentic talents, grown in the sports that are in close contact with nature, woods, trails and mountains: this is the main feature of an extremely charming area which will be the backdrop for tomorrow’s champions. From the classroom to Primiero, students will dream high.
