VILLA WELSPERG

The complex comprises three buildings - the villa, the church and the barn - surrounded by, or rather immersed in, a garden adjoining a large grassland, which tapers down to become a small but interesting peat bog. Aquatic mountain environments are the underlying theme of the Visitor Centre.
The Villa hosts a modern and well-structured Visitor Centre with four display rooms in which a virtual journey through the park is developed in four stages: a collection of natural finds, a library, a small video-projection room and a room for educational activities.

  • From 27 Dec. 2023 to 6 Jan. 2024: open everyday. 31 Dec. and 1 Jan. closed.

PARK INFORMATION POINT - SAN MARTINO DI CASTROZZA
Tel. +39 0439 068043

This is a small but interesting information centre which describes high mountain environments and the geology of the Dolomites, certainly the focus of the display, as well as giving information about eagles, which are at home in the Pale di San Martino and in the Lagorai range. In-depth information is given about naturalistic aspects concerning the climate, through devices that measure the temperature of the rocks depending on their exposure and other instruments that determine the influence of tree-cover on temperature. A small pond and a rock garden outside complete the visit to this centre.

Openings:
  • During the winter season the infopoint is closed

SUONA - FORESTA PANEVEGGIO
Tel. +39 0462 576283

Not far from Lake Forte Buso, on the SS50 national road that from Predazzo leads up to Passo Rolle, the Paneveggio Visitor Centre focuses on the great spruce forest of Paneveggio, known as the Violin Forest for the high quality resonance wood it produces, used by violin-makers in the past. The centre also describes the most symbolic forest animals such as the wood grouse or the deer. Not far from the Centre, the latter can be observed in a large enclosure. The Visitor Centre is the starting point for a nature trail with several signalled observation points and information panels.

Openings:
  • Open in special occasions and during the guided tours to the Violin Forest
